Pitch
Color Squid is a hypercasual game where you control a cute little squid and need to complete a path, collecting the dots in the order of the gradient, making a colorful figure in the process.

Origin
VOODOO has entered a partnership with our school and we consequently had two weeks with them to produced 2 quick prototypes. Color Squid is the second one. Our team was randomly selected from our class.
Team
Florient ESCHALIER – Game Designer
Myself, Matthieu RIBOULOT – Game Designer, Prototyper
Corinne FENOGLIO – Game Art
Paul LANCELOT – Game Art
Eve BOUCHARD – Programmer
What I did
As the project was very short, almost jam-like, it was a quick back and forth between the Game Designers and the prototype. We did a long brainstorm to finally agree on this idea.
In the project, aside from the main game Design, I made the level generator and some levels. (some are procedurally generated and some are fixed).
Here's a mock-up made the first day.

Post-Mortem
I was not very happy about the exercise at the start, as I usually focus more on more traditional PC/Console games. The teamwork went surprisingly well, considering that I had at this time almost no experience with my other teammates.
But I find out that I like this game a lot, and I still have it on my phone to kill some seconds when needed. VOODOO was also quite pleased by our prototype even if this collaboration didn't progress further on anything.
Even if I don't want to go to an industry that kills one prototype per week before redoing from scratch, I guess I opened myself a bit more on casual and mobile games.
